The method of downhole gasification of a coal seam relates to mining, in particular to underground coal gasification and the use of the heat energy released to generate electricity. According to the invention, a gas generator well is equipped with a pipe recuperator, in which a supply hose with a liquid coolant is placed inside the air duct. The pipe recuperator is equipped with several air bypass pipes, which, when slowing down the process of underground coal gasification, the air mixture is directed through radial tubes outside the pipe recuperator into the well. The invention increases the volume and ensures the quality of the resulting generator gas and contributes to more efficient utilization of thermal energy of the underground gas generator
