The present invention relates to pulsed linear electromechanical energy converters and can be applied in the defense and aerospace fields. The claimed rail electromagnetic accelerator consists of a housing, a pair of electrically conductive rails, an electrically conductive armature and a pulse power supply. The electrically conductive rails, along their length, are divided into separate, isolated segments, which are connected in parallel to the pulse power supply, by means of two current-carrying busbars, which are made of a stranded cable with a steel core and lower electrical resistance than the electrically conductive rails.
