A method of making a small arms barrel with an internal helical polygonal profile, comprising making a mandrel of a corresponding profile, making a tubular blank, forming an inner surface of the barrel blank along the mandrel by plastic deformation, removing the mandrel from the crimped blank, machining the outer surface and finishing the inner surface. The inner surface of the workpiece is formed along a mandrel with a profile of a cross section constant in length, with a twisting inner surface parallel to the axis of the workpiece, and the helical line of the twisting inner surface is obtained by twisting the crimped workpiece, after which the barrel channel is processed by deforming stretching before finishing.

The utility model belongs to the engineering industry, in particular to methods of metal forming, and can be used for the manufacture of small arms barrels with an internal screw polygonal profile.
