A method for obtaining a zinc(II) oxide photocatalyst by precipitation includes the addition of 1M NaOH dropwise to the initial solution of zinc(II) acetate heated to 50 °C, with constant stirring. The resulting zinc(II) hydroxide precipitate is filtered, washed with distilled water, dried at a temperature not lower than 70 °C for at least 5 minutes and calcined at a temperature not lower than 500 °C.
