The invention belongs to marine instrumentation and can be used in navigation to accurately determine the course of the ship or other moving object. The declared gyrocompass contains a central device with a three-stage gyroscope and a horizon indicator, a control and correction device, a timer, a key, a scaling amplifier, a comparator. The gyrocompass additionally contains a calculator, the first input of which is the second output of the timer, the second input is the comparator output, the first output of the comparator is made to give the signal of navigation readiness of the gyrocompass to the consumer, and the second is connected to the control and correction device. At the same time, the calculator is made to determine the mode of operation of the gyrocompass, to change the steepness of the characteristics of the specific pendulum and damping control moments, rx and rz the constant time of the filter of the horizon indicator T -, as well as the calculator is made to enter the time delay in the signal of the timer, when transitions between the modes of operation of the gyrocompass. The invention consists of simplifying the structure and guaranteeing the return after the completion of the ship’s maneuver to the meridian (to improve the performance of the device) at any deviations of the axis of the kinetic moment of the
gyroscope from the meridian, which allows to increase the safety of navigation by issuing reliable information about the course of the vessel under any conditions of navigation and under any maneuvering of the vessel.
